An Amazing, Top, Idol-istic Finale
Greetings,
Well...last night was certainly a great evening for television. So much so that I have to PVR THREE shows at once. Just crazy, I tells ya.
First off, lets begin with the best of the 3 - The Amazing Race. Unlike last week's Survivor Finale, which frankly, sucked a lot of balls, last night's Amazing Race finale was AWESOME. Damn, it was pretty exciting from its beginning in Thailand (I think), through Japan, Alaska and wherever the hell else these douches went.
Not gonna go into the entire race, but the winners were...
YAYAYAYAYAYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
I love the Hippies. Never before have I found a team on the Amazing Race so unabashedly appealing and amusing. They are too funny. And I loved their half-hearted attempts at screwing the other teams ("I 'think' I may have seen that thing we're looking for...over...THERE!" - as they run away in the opposite direction, giggling like schoolgirls.) I also loved how the other teams, especially the Frat Fags hated them. The logic behind the Frat Homos hatred was a little off though; claiming the Hippies tried to screw them over (I think you'll find calling and cancelling a cab a little more evil and devious than saying, "I think I saw some shit over there, but I dunno."). God how I hated the Frat Queers.
I went into the episode hoping that EITHER Ray and Yolanda or the Hippes would come out victorious. As the episode drew to a close, however, I become increasingly frustrated with their pathetic performance as racers. Between two destinations, they stopped no less than three times to ask for directions and were told the exact same thing by all three people they spoke to. R&Y didn't deserve to win like the Hippies did, or even the Frat Queens. At least the Frat Loafer-Lighteners actually busted their well toned asses to get a second place...unlike R&Y who showed up 3 HOURS later. Losers.
Ah well, all around a GREAT bit of Amazing Racery that shall go down in history as my favourite season thus far. :) Yay! A far cry from the abhorrent disaster that was last year's "Family Edition." Yikes.
A bit of Amazing Race Newsery for you - it's moving...AGAIN! Next season, Amazing Race will air on Sundays at 8pm. Hopefully Glen and I will still be able to partake in our favourite show. :) Nice!
Onto American Idol - this will be a quick one as I frankly have no time for the elimination shows, which should really be called the "A bunch of crap filler and then a two second elimination shows." Funnily enough, after Amazing Race finished, I turned to American Idol just in time to see...guess who...eliminated. As always *cough*, I predicted correctly that Elliot Yamin would be leaving.
One thing bugs me, however...there is NO WAY that the votes were THAT close to each other. Elliot was the clear and present loser of the three finalists. It was just so obvious that I cannot believe the American Idol viewing audience, even with the stigma attached, would be so stupid as to vote for Elliot. Ah well, the worst person went home some I'm happy.
Then onto America's Next Top (Mediocre) Model. As suspected by most of the viewing audience, Jade was the first of the three to be eliminated. Her assmunchery had been getting on my nerves from oh...day 1...and she was PRIMED for a nice let down. Its weird though, because I think her last photo was her best and certainly rivalled the other girls. But who am I? No one, that's who.
So it came down to Joanie (former Snaggletooth) and Danielle (present hickster supremo). I wasn't too bothered either way with who won it and was actually having a real hard time predicting who the judges would pick. They ended up picking Danielle as America's Next Top (Mediocre) Model. Good for her. Like I said, I thought they both deserved it.
The bottom line - Jade DIDN'T win. Joygasm all around.
I've begun making my slip cover for my sofa, managing to cut out at least 30% of the pattern before Glen RUDELY interrupted me last night with an offering of wine. He'll pay for that!
Cutting the pattern was much easier than I had previously anticipated - but most of that view was gleaned from zero experience cutting patterns. :) Should be interesting.
I went to King Textiles (the greatest fabric store in Toronto) to pick up some fabric for making my slip cover. I looked at various colours in the same family, but couldn't find a perfect one, so I decided to go with natural canvas. At least I can make it totally and decide later if I want to dye it or not, right? I agree. I bought 15+1 yards of canvas coming to a total of $110 or so. Pretty good, I think. Will probably take some time tonight and over the long weekend to finish the project. Whoopdidoo!
Turrah!

We even got some Paula craziness!
Excellent!
